The alternators supplied with most small marine engines – whether gas or diesel – are usually 35 to 60 amp automotive alternators. Late model marine engines could have 70 to 80 amp automotive alternators. A heavy duty marine high output alternator produces more power at lower rpm, instead of high output at high rpm - freeway speeds for an automobile.
Our series of high output marine alternators will produce far more power even though rated at only slightly more than any automotive alternator, because the marine alternators produce higher output at lower engine revolutions.

Extensive research has shown that alternators equipped with Remote Sense can reduce battery charge time by 50% and decrease battery warranty claims by 30%.
Remote Sense utilizes a second wire that reads the actual voltage at the battery and signals the alternator to increase its voltage output to compensate for the voltage drop, ensuring a constant 14 volts at the battery. The additional voltage forces the current into the battery faster, bringing it to a full state of charge in half the time.

Brushless Alternators have fewer moving parts. Fewer moving parts means less wear. What you end up with is longer life, not to mention the best warranty in the industry to back it up.
Alternators pull air through from the back to the front in order to cool the internal electronics which introduces dust into the alternator. With a brushless alternator, there are no issues of dust hanging up brushes and causing early failure. Without brushes, there are 13 fewer moving parts, eliminating components that wear out, while extending overall product life.
All major internal components that carry current such as a field coil, regulator, bridge, connectors, and stator, are stationary components and more resistant to vibration and debris.
If you intend to use an alternator less than two years, then brush is best, but if for a longer time which includes long hauls or a long trade cycle, then brushless is better. While you may pay nearly twice as much for brushless, it will last about four times as long.
